I like this place. It can get loud but the food was good.

The atmosphere here was pleasant. We ate on the outdoor, covered deck with live music. We took advantage of the Happy Oyster Hour available on Thursdays. The raw oysters were good, as was the Bay-seasoned shrimp. The fish tacos were okay. The New Orleans style gumbo over mashed potatoes was full of seafood variety and pretty good, but not excellent. It had a greasy appearance that detracted from the culinary experience. Overall, we had a nice meal, but probably wouldn't come back.

This place was great. When we arrived there was a guy playing guitar on the patio, which worried us as we hate listening to live music while eating (believe it or not, we like to have conversation during dinner). Thankfully we were able to sit inside and though we'd made a 7pm reservation, the inside of the restaurant seemed to have plenty of seating. The patio was completely full however. Our food came out quickly! We had the Rockefeller baked oysters as our appetizer and they tasted great, though the actual edible portion was pretty small for the price. No matter, it was GREAT. My entree was the Mayport Shrimp and Cheese Grits which was just fantastic - the shrimp were large and the grits were very tasty. The sauce on top of the dish was fantastic as well, though I did find myself adding salt. My partner had the Butternut Grouper, which was also just great tasting and his vegetable sides (a stir-fry of local kale, zucchini, green beans, and onions) were great as well. All of the food was cooked very well and seasoned nicely - the bread/pecan crust on the butternut grouper was to die for. The star of the show however was that "herbal rice"! I don't think that's a grammatically correct term, fyi, but the damn rice was DELICIOUS. So aromatic and fragrant, cooked perfectly as well. I kept stealing bites from my partner's plate! We were too full for dessert, but we did have some local beers. I had an awesome Blonde lager from Veterans, and my partner had an IPA, though I can't remember the name of it. Our dinner bill was pretty decent considering that the food is all local and we had drinks. We got out of there for about $55 and our server was great so of course we tipped nicely. By the time we left at about 8pm, the place was completely packed and there were people waiting to be seated. Seems like the dinner crowd in Neptune Beach is a late one so if you don't want a long wait to be seated and served, be sure to get there by 7 or 7:15.

Service was great, the food was good, but the key lime pie was disappointing. I had the oysters Rockefeller style, highly recommended. These were delicious; cheesy, hot, and topped with leafy greens (spinach I believe). Butternut Grouper was good although a little over-caked with the batter, and the side dishes were lackluster. The rice was cold and lacked flavor that it so demanded. The steamed veggies were... well steamed veggies. The key lime pie, as so many people suggested, was the most disappointing. The custard was bitter, and the crust was soggy... Really? Also, they should ask you if you want the whole thing covered with whipped cream. 3-stars for the lame sides and poorly executed key lime pie.

Great dinner spot, loved sitting outdoors though I wish places like this wouldn't allow live music acts. If I wanted live music, I'd go to a music venue. The fresh halibut was incredible with the cracker crust, and the appetizer steak on toast sliders were great. Service was good, even though the place was crowded.

Sliders is one of the best restaurants in this area. They have something for everyone, not just seafood. We've tried many of the restaurants around, but always end up back at sliders. Oysters are always fresh, service is impeccable, and food is always on point. I recommend the artichoke seafood dip as a starter, and butternut grouper as your entree. We always get the key lime pie for desert. It's to die for! Good selection of local drafts too! Highly recommend it.

Great service and the food is fantastic. Had the steamed shrimp appetizer, the seafood pasta, and the seafood gumbo. The gumbo is a bit mild but very tasty. The seafood pasta is perfect and very fresh! Will be back next time we're in Jacksonville.

This was a folio bite club event that I was so graciously allowed to join my husband for. This was my first time to experience Sliders. The food was excellent tasting menu of their newly revised menu. When I say tasting I do mean to say tasty! From the first course to the desert, they have a vast assortment of tastiness. I for one am big fan of the tasting menus, with my non existent appetite nowadays. The tasting menus allow you to taste a variety of items. Small bites are right up my alley. Thank you Folio and Sliders for a lovely evening of very yummy treats.

Great service, great food. Had the shrimp sausage and artichoke dip for apps, butternut grouped and blackened fish tacos for entrees. Hubby loved the shrimp sausage, I thought it was good. Both entrees were fantastic, I loved the slaw with the tacos. Portions were normal sized (not giant American servings) and priced right. Not a fan of the red sangria, which was described as punch so I shouldn't have been surprised. Preferred the Sungria, red of course which was yummy.

Located in the heart of Neptune beach, Sliders provides an informal and fun place for lunch or dinner. Atmosphere is a bit rugged but the food is fresh and they offer some unique dishes such as cajon jambalaya, and various grilled fish dishes. Staff was attentive and responsive. Definitely a strong recommend for good food and informal dining.

DH and I ate here last night, mainly for the $5/dozen oyster special. Mike was our server and he was awesome--he was very friendly and personable and was quick and efficient. We got the oysters (of course,) the artichoke seafood dip, tiki scallops, and key lime pie. The food was fabulous and priced just right. I love that this is a locally owned restaurant and that the seafood is fresh. I also like that Sliders is a casual venue with a laid back vibe. We will definitely be frequenting this place more often.

This was my second visit to Sliders and I had pretty much the same reaction. This time I had the filet wrapped in bacon with scallops wrapped in bacon on top. I am pretty sure this was not a filet mignon, but it wasn't bad. The bacon, on the other hand, was a real let-down. It was all fat and no meat. I actually removed it completely and did not eat it because it was completely white and very unappetizing. We had the fish dip to start with and it was very good. We actually ordered another one because everyone at the table liked it so much. I think this is a good place to come for a drink after being at the beach. I probably will not revisit for dinner though.

I ate with the Slider's folks today at the Folio Beer Fest. I was cruising by when out of the corner of my eye I see Shrimp Sausage. Well as a sausage maker that sure made my ears stand up straight. I got to have one of those. That is where it went wrong. The sausage was chicken and if there was some shrimp in there it was minced up pretty darn fine. I broke off little pieces and looked and broke off some more no shrimp. I also make chicken sausage and after a couple of questions that what this is. Chicken the other shrimp in the sea. So Italian chicken sausage it was is and will be in my book. Oh yea I make a pretty mean chicken sausage myself.

We came back here after having a memorable meal here three years ago. I was a little concerned by some of these recent reviews, but I shouldn't have been - it was great. I had the Butternut Grouper which came with seasoned rice and a mixture of fresh sautéed vegetables - I cleaned my plate. Husband had Seafood Viejo, which he pronounced excellent - he especially appreciated the fresh shrimp in the dish. Our kids had two of the three daily fish specials - flounder Parmesan and snapper w/black bean & mango salsa. We sat on the patio and were entertained by a solo singer/guitarist who played hits from '90s to today. Great evening!

Sliders Thursdays for happy hour! $4 Budweiser quarts and $5 for a dozen oysters. Awesome service and great atmosphere.

Great Thursday oyster happy hour!!!! Plenty of ice cold beer, and the service is always friendly and very helpful. My wife and I enjoy coming here.

Been coming here for good seafood every year for a while. Just had the best meal here yet! Love it!!! The shrimp and grits is delischeriffic. Great service! Reasonable price! What else do you want?!? Thanks for the dining experience. We will definitely be back again.

Best oysters ever! The staff is absolutely phenomenal and the food speaks for itself. The servers are beyond servers they represent customer service! I brought a client here tonight and she was absolutely wowed! The special, the blackened snapper, was perfect! The spinach seafood dip was on point as usual and the oysters were bigger than the crackers.

Spent a rainy afternoon up in Neptune Beach. Wanted to pick something that we've wanted to go to but haven't before. Sliders sounded like the right fit. It wasn't that anything was that bad, but it wasn't that great. Nothing was that special. The food was just ok. We started with appetizers of raw oysters and steamed clams. Both were good. The oysters were on the small side. The horseradish wasn't that potent either. The little neck clams were decent. Main courses came out. My wife had the bouillabaisse which she thought was a bit salty. I had the cajun stir fry which was decent. The kids tried some other things but nothing that stood out. Lastly, my son had the brownie and ice cream for dessert. That was the best part of the meal. On the positive side, our waitress was very attentive. She ensured that our classes (soda) remained full.

Wanted some fresh seafood in Neptune Beach, and Sliders was close, so we decided to eat here. Ordered drinks - Sangria - and thought is mostly tasted like red wine with an orange tossed in it. Food was ok. Nothing great, just ok. Not a super memorable meal. I actually had to look up pictures after seeing I had a check-in, because I could not remember eating here.

  • Heidi O.

The food was really bad all around, very disappointing, menu looked so good but do not be fooled, should have had oysters and left it at that.

Nice, casual, family oriented. Friendly waitstaff. Only had the key lime pie. Good; could have been a bit more tart. Still yummy and seemed homemade.

  • Julien S.

Interesting concept where you enter a restaurant with empty tables while they tell you you will have to wait standing. We waited for half an hour so that they could tell us that they just closed the kitchen. Most desapointing restaurant I ever had.

Wonderful Place w/ a laid-back atmosphere, fantastically unique menu items and reasonable prices. Found this place by doing a lot of google research and reading menu after menu, looking for a unique seafood joint with cool menu items. This was the place I came up with, and it defiantly delivered. It is very quaint and unassuming from the outside, actually hard to find the door to get in (its on the side but have to walk around back). It has a very chill vibe inside with bright colors, very tropical. My husband & I had the crab cigars & the crab artichoke dip for appetizers. Crab Cigars didn't taste too crabby to me, I probably wouldn't order them again. But the dip was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazingly good. Served with toasted bread that tasted exactly like a crouton - YUM! I had seafood meatloaf for an entree. How unique is that!?! It was fabulous, with a creamy cajun sauce on top. We had several beers, 2 apps, 2 entrees and bill was only around $50. Awesome!!! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a fun atmosphere and unique seafood dishes.

LOCAL seafood! YES there is differences in size of oysters shrimp etc because it's FRESH from HERE and not imported. I prefer local fresh catch and Sliders is the BEST place in Neptune Beach for oysters, shrimp and local cuisine! I'm a constantly in transit a military spouse and this is my go-to seafood restaurant since I've discovered it 2yrs ago. I've brought countless people here and they bring their family and friends now. Seafood artichoke dip, raw oysters and broiled Mayport shrimp are my usual order, defiantly all sharing portions. All local ingredients and at a reasonable price, not to mention consistently delicious! The grouper is wonderful, check the daily specials! They are willing to make anything how you'd like it, grilled, blackened, fried. For the tourists, the service can be slow, it's just how it's done at the best places out here, nice and steady. Enjoy your dining experience instead of shoveling down a quick meal. I usually order everything (drinks, apps, main course) at the same time first upon meeting the waitress/waitor to speed things up, like i said I'm a transport! Wonderful deals on Thursdays, 4 dollar dozen oysters and PBR's for a buck! But get there early cuz it gets packed! Also, they offer parking! It's kind of hidden with access off Orange St and 3rd. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because it took me a while to figure out how to order to quicken the dining experience. Is not a knock at Sliders, just being realistic in my own personal dining preference, I'm from a busy busy big city, what can I say! Enjoy the deliciousness!

Fabulous food and atmosphere. Loved the fish sliders! Really appreciate being able to bring dogs to table.

  • Bill S.

A few years ago this was the place. The portions are now a little different. They have recently changed their menu so be ready. Maybe I'm not used to the new sliders yet. Great atmosphere and staff!

  • Sandra E.

Sesame flounder was delicious. Oysters were fresh and plump. Crab cake had lots of crab and not overly seasoned.

  • Samantha B.

Good food. Mostly, I was impressed by the oysters. Terrible, slow service. Seriously slow.

    (2)
  • Victoria W.

I love the atmosphere at Sliders. I always sit outside and it's very nice. I literally order the shrimp tacos every time I dine here; they're super tasty! The seafood artichoke dip is delicious and you can't beat their oyster special on Thursdays. The only complaint I have is that the service is really inconsistent and slow. That's why I need to give 3 stars :(. It's not necessarily bad but there seems to be a high turnover here.

    (3)
  • Callie P.

I love Sliders! Also, people who give bad reviews because the "oysters are small" need to check themselves. Restaurants don't go and pick each oyster individually, you have to work with what you're dealt with....Great food, great atmosphere.

    (5)
  • MaryAlice R.

Terrible service. Terrible food. Mediocre bartender. We were told that in fact you do not get two sides for dinner meals by the server. So I paid $16 for oily noodles and frozen broccoli. Waste. That is all that needs to be said, I don't want to waste anymore time for this place.

    (1)
  • Philip O.

The best tuna in town (when they have it) we always sit outside and the service is always amazing! Great oysters and beer specials on Thursdays. The pecan crusted flounder is pretty amazing too

    (5)
  • Alan M.

The food is absolutely to die for. I love the happy hour Thursdays, and the 2-4-1 beer on Sundays. I came in last week and Callie was my server, she was so attentive and gave extremely good recommendations. The Caribbean fish was amazing! I love that Magic Hat #9 is on draft, it is my all time favorite beer and I would come in any day just to have it on tap.

  • Catalina F.

Sat outside as I was with my dog, they were nice enough to bring him water. Arrived about half an hour before their actual dinner, which starts at 5pm. So we started with appetizers. The steamed oysters were delicious, you gotta shuck them yourself so be prepared! The tiki scallops were good, nothing out of this world. The soup of the day was very delicious, snapper stew. Our actual entree was the Tidewater Boil which was disappointing to say the least. Lacked flavor all around and just plain boring. The environment was nice and relaxing, I'd definitely go back but possible never again order that entree. Overall great experience.

  • Lara F.

I wrote my review but overlooked the stars...they get one for pouring a full glass of wine the second glass instead of the half of glass I got the first time. Read my do review before you go. We sent so much food back, I actually felt bad until I was in the way home hungry from having only eaten frozen veggies and a roll.

    (1)
  • Tyler B.

Beyond terrible. I downloaded this app to only review this poor excuse of an eatery. My party of four was quickly seated in the outdoor area. Took over 20 minutes until someone finally checked on us. He took out drink orders and appetizers. 10 minutes later they came out. 20 minutes after that we got our food. The grouper was excellent but the portion wouldn't keep a squirrel alive. All in all we were there over an hour and a half, left not hungry but far from full and confident we would not return. We went on a Thursday at 6PM during the offseason. Maybe we got the one bad waiter, who I suspect was high, but I can't in good conscience recommend this place.

    (1)
  • Mary D.

Absolutely the worst meal we had in 4 weeks of travel throughout the Southeast US. Waiter was friendly and attentive but the margaritas were forgettable and only one of the four in our party enjoyed our entree.

    (2)
  • Abbey S.

Had never checked out sliders and wanted to try it. The good was decent but nothing special. The vegetables were just frozen and mediocre yellow rice. Worst of all the tuna gave me food poisoning the next day and a half. Over priced!

    (1)
  • Chris S.

it was pretty good, but nothing amazing...

    (2)
  • Erika S.

I had the seafood meatloaf and it was really yummy. Casey had the "seafood" gumbo and there was only 1 small chunk of a piece of shrimp in it but the manager did give us half off the bowl price which was nice.

    (3)
  • Robby D.

I LOVE their tug boat soup. I usually get that and shrimp. They do not have fried food The servers bust their butt. The only complaint is the wait but what do you expect.

Sliders is a bonafide Neptune Beach mainstay. Opening its doors in 1981, the casual, coastal restaurant experiences a nightly crowd of loyal patrons young and old. And it's good, don't get me wrong, but as a Gulf Coast native who grew up with seafood raining from the sky like confetti, I think Sliders is a little overpriced for what you get. I usually don't bother on any night but Thursday. Now that is a different story altogether. From 5 to 8 pm enjoy a dozen oysters for $5, 1/4 pound of shrimp for $3, $7 Snow Crab Clusters, and $2.75 Fish Tacos. You can't beat that with a barnacle! Happy Hour also features great beer and wine specials. (Which I love to chase with Oyster Shooters!) Sitting outside on their large shaded patio is always a treat in the months of milder weather, and the service is consistent and friendly. You're alright by me Sliders.

Very much enjoyed sliders! The outside was cute and casual - but the string lighting made it sort of romantic. The crab dip was out of this world ! It may have been some of the best I've had in a long time....I had to restrain myself from eating my friends appetizer! I also enjoyed some of the raw oysters that I was able to try...they tasted nice and fresh. For my entree I had the crab legs - truthfully I could have eaten double the amount, but for $18 I can't complain too much...they also happen to be one of my favorites so I tend to go overboard. They tasted delicious and were served with clarified butter and red bliss mashed potatoes. The only down-side of the evening was the service. We decided to change seats and our server was triple-sat...therefore we had about 3 or 4 people serving us and we had to double check that our orders were submitted as it took quite awhile to get our food. It was a little bit of chaos but over-all the food earned Sliders a solid 4 stars.

I love eating at Sliders when I'm at the beach! My favorite meal is the fish tacos with a dozen raw oysters.

Hit up Sliders last night and yet again, they don't disappoint! The Cajan Shrimp Pasta was perfect with a little kick and the Butternut Grouper was delish! So happy an old beaches standby is still kickin. :)

Original Review Date: 12/11/2011 I am a local, and have gone here on and off for years. The only great thing about thsi place is their cheap and fun Thursday happy hour. 32 oz of Bud for $4, cheap long necks, wine, and several things to order (NO SUBSTITUTIONS) at a few bucks. However, the service is always super slow, the bathrooms pretty sketchy, and the normal food is simply "eh" and overpriced. I honestly think I like every other restaurant on the square better than Sliders. The others have stepped up their game for Thursday's happy hour, too. Bottom Line: unless it's Thursday and you are biking here with your beach buddies...may as well pick someplace else

Been there a few times over the past year when I visit my sister in Jacksonville, FL. I love it, nice environment, staff, and food is yummy! Good oysters and fish tacos. Just tried the lobster artichoke dip, that is delicious too! Happy Hour deal is a great one! They expanded to an outdoor seating that is really nice. Last time we were inside and it was a little tight squeeze seating, but outdoors was real comfy and knowing you're right next to the beach is wonderful!

Let me first preface my review by saying that I do not like seafood but came here with a group of friends who are seafood fans. I ordered a jerk chicken pasta dish which was pretty good. My husband said that his grouper was only ok, and I don't think anyone else at our table really raved about their food so I would say this is a pretty average seafood place. Our server was excellent and really handled our larger group well.

First time at your place on Friday around 7 pm . Seated immediately . Table of 4 at a booth next to the kitchen . Greet time about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement . I know you were busy so it wasn't a big deal . Leigh Ann was our server. Pretty sure she had about 7 tables . She got our drink order (4 beers) and we were prepared and ordered a bunch of apps . Food was delivered in a timely fashion . Food was very very good .Absolutely no check back til I caught her on one of her several trips right by us back into the kitchen and asked for 4 more beers and the check . Never took any of the used plates away . The table next to the kitchen by default is the best bussed table in the house usually but this was not the case with us. So Leigh Ann got us 8 beers and took our order and ran my cc . Worst service I've had anywhere in awhile but great food. Need some help training your staff? Do you visit tables ? I don't know if blaming Leigh Ann here is the right thing but there were some easy non time consuming fundamental service opportunities that were missed. Like , grab a plate going back into the kitchen , hey I know your sitting there I will be back with you in a minute , how is everything ?, and can I get get you another round . I actually watched you do this with other tables just not ours. By the way we still tipped 20 on a $78.92 tab because at the end of the day management is responsible here not Leigh Ann. Want me back ? I tip well and treat people with respect . We eat out all the time . Ball is in your court .

They have some seriously good seafood dishes. They are well cooked, not buried in heavy sauces, seem fresh, etc. The oysters, at noted, are also very good. Skip dessert. The service is fine. They have both outside and inside eating areas - the inside has more of a bar feel to it. Fine for kids (they have a kids menu) except on Fri or Sat night. One issue - expect a really long wait on Friday or Saturday nights.

  • Catherine H.

My husband and I stopped in here on Saturday around 4:30 to grab some food. We were sat and 2 waiters passed us without saying anything. There were 4 servers and 2 hosts at the hostess stand talking and laughing and no one said ANYTHING to us. No, "I'll be right with you.." Not even eye contact. We were basically invisible. We got up and left and went to Cruisers. Cruisers has amazing service and WAY better food..... Go there, not here.

I know people who love this place. Have been a few times and its always a let down. Food is just okay. I don't remember if I had a potato or bread but was a little horrified they served margarine with it. Really great looking place, excellent atmosphere. But the food is nothing special.

not bad, there are better places around for seafood, OK. We went early between lunch and dinner and had to wait until 5 so they could put in our dinner order, despite the fact that it was 4:50 when we ordered. I had the fish tacos, nothing to write home about...2 pieces of fish, some salsa and 2 flour tortillas, it was a do it yourself kit. wife had peel shrimp...which weren't too bad. We tried it to try it, but if we had to choose probably wouldn't go back. Sorry :(

I was pleasant surprised by the HH special when i went to Sliders with a coworker (it wasn't really advertised openly. I saw some reviews on yelp about the HH special so i asked the waitress). You CANNOT turn down a dozen oysters for $3. Yes, three bones!!!!!!! I should've ordered more. Even better, the quality of the oysters was pretty good. The oysters were sweet and not fishy at all (I've paid alot more for some fishy stinky oysters). Anyhow, aside from the oysters, we ordered the crab roll for appetizer. My coworker ordered the fish tacos and i had the seafood gumbo. The crab roll was tasty, it's essentially deep fried roll stuffed with crab meat. Interesting concept. The seafood gumbo was okay, broth was thick and it didn't come with rice. Being raised in Louisiana i've definitely had better. Not saying it's bad but i'm just used to the Creole gumbo. My coworker seemed to enjoy his fish tacos as he cleaned out his plate in no time. After a week of trying out different restaurants in JAX, my coworker and I both agreed that Sliders was our favorite eats. Maybe we didn't have much luck with the other places but we definitely enjoyed our experience at Sliders.

I've been here 3 times and each time I haven't been too impressed. The food is just okay. I want to like it because its in a great location and we are hurting for some good seafood restaurants out at the beach. The entrees lacked complexity and flavor. Food was bland.

If I'm in Neptune Beach and want some good seafood, I would go here. The prices are right, the atmosphere is great and the food is spot on. The only change I would make is I don't like all the sweat toppings on my fish. Other than that, order away and enjoy this great restaurant. It's always packed so get there early and be prepared for a wait. It's well worth it and you can go next door to the coffee shop and listen to music on the weekends.

  • Courtney B.

Delicious seafood at a reasonable price! The fish specials are consistently good and the casual envirnoment fits the beach. Locals love it. The wine selection is reasonably priced and somewhat short - the focus is definitely on fantastic fish (and oysters!)

  • Charlene H.

Went for a birthday party. The wait ended up being nearly 2 hours (were told 45 minutes, then an hour later went back to check and were told 45 minutes again) and we ended up sitting outside in the wind and cold. Some of our party were so frustrated that they left. Those of us who remained passed appetizers and oysters around. I ordered the wild salmon on cedar plank with asparagus. The food was ok but the wait, food and service were not worth the price! If I'm going to wait 2 hours to eat and then sit on a picnic bench while sand blows in my face, I don't expect to pay $50/couple. Needless to say, I probably won't go back.

Oysters! Oysters! Oysters! The gumbo is great too.

I have eaten at Slider's consistently for over 5 years and have been not just satisfied but completely blown away by some of the special dishes they have created over that time. I am always amazed to read some of the reviews and see the ratings of people who visit once, like the food but then low-ball the rating. I was born in Florida and I DO know my seafood and say without a doubt this is the BEST seafood I have had anywhere.

  • Hilary L.

If you're in the Beaches area, this is probably the best seafood for miles. Sure, you could eat at way fancier places, or you might find food cheaper, but for a fun, relaxed atmosphere and fresh, tasty food Sliders is it. My adventures here always center on two things: the crab legs and the oysters! You can not go wrong either way, and both are seafood heaven. When the oysters are in season you can't afford to have them any way other than raw or steamed [Saltine cracker and Crystal hot sauce, please!}--absolute deliciousness. It is great to order some oysters, some crab legs, and a few sides and split it with a group. The other thing I like about this place is the relaxed local vibe. As opposed to many other places, this restaurant actually feels [rather than is just decorated] like you're at the beach. The service is always good, and the atmosphere is fun. Sliders is also great for groups with a lot of large tables both inside and outside. Watch out for peak times because it does get crowded and I have had to wait for a table before. That only goes to show what I said earlier. It may get fancier, but it doesn't get better in this area.

Great place for a bucket of oysters. Very beachy and relaxed. Don't be in a rush.

Fantastic. Try the house specials. And as the other reviews stated, get some oysters. Low prices for the quality and quantity of food.

This is what fresh seafood tastes like!!! Love coming here to eat when I can. The hostesses know what they are doing and the wait staff is great! I have heard people complain about there being no fried food--but what is wrong with that!? Delicious seafood and from what I can tell it is relatively healthy. My only thing? The roll of dark brown bread that comes with dinner. My first time there I had to ask my waitress what it was! I will be returning.

If you want to know where to locals go to get great seafood at a great price, eat at Slider's. As other reviews state, the decor may seem lacking. However, the picnic tables and rustic floor just add charm. I have been several times and never had an issue with service. The servers are young, local kids who are willing to work hard for their tips. The food, for the price, is exceptional. They have a rotating menu of specials that change daily based on the availability of fresh seafood. Of course, their raw oysters are a staple. As an appetizer, I recommend either the Shrimp dip or the Fish Fingers. They are both uncomplicated yet tasty. For an entree, you can't go wrong with the fish tacos. (Note: menu fish tacos are different from happy hour fish tacos). They have an amazing mango-fruit salsa and a great tartar sauce that set them apart from other imitation fish tacos out there. They come with a side of rice and beans that I usually end up putting into the taco as well. Dessert offers key lime pie, although the past two times I've been they have been out. it's just that good! Slider's is a local favorite. Not the most gourmet dining experience, but you can't beat great food at a great price!

Wow, some people are so stingy with stars. This place is great. When in the area this place is a must stop. Mmm, Raw Oysters, Mmm...

Was at the Dancin' in the Streets fest today and always wanted to try Sliders so we stopped in for dinner. Mayhap I shoulda got the oysters since that is what they are known for, but I wasn't in the mood. It's a cool little place, very casual. We sat down with another couple (strangers) at a picnic table outside, under the awning. The waitress was friendly and promptly brought us a drinks and took my order for a Bud Light. I ordered the Mixed Grill, which had a sampling of Mahi Mahi, shrimp and half a small lobster tail. All three had a light blackened seasoning. Not too salty and pretty tasty. The shrimp were by far the best. Crisp, cleaned, and fresh, they took the spices up well. The lobster was a little tough and chewy and the flavor was only ok. I had to dunk it in butter to make it better. The Mahi Mahi was good too, although perhaps a minute overdone. Glabella had scallops. Not her usual, but these were an great choice. They were lightly grilled with some browning caramelization. They were covered in a orangish creamy sauce. I wish the menu had a bit more variety, but overall I'm a fan. I'd go back and I'd bring others too. There are alot of similar casual seafood joints in Jax. This one wins because of the location and the food.

FOODIE HEAVEN - the seafood here was deeee-lish! Sure, you camp out on a picnic table if you are eating on the patio, but the entrees are super! I went with a group of 4 - one of which is a picky eater (no seafood), and all 4 of us came out wonderfully satisfied! Dont' forget to check out their specials.

I should have been put off immediately by the presence of bottled hand sanitizer on the outside tables. Maybe it's just me, but this struck me at the most disgusting thing I've ever encountered in a restaurant. A heavily used, 30% full, plastic bottle of hand-sanitizer sitting in the middle of your table, next to the bottle of tabasco and sugar packets.......? Just ate here a couple of days ago. Saw reviews online, thought it would be pretty good. Spoke to a couple of people on the street who recommended Sliders. One said it was a local "institution." Sat down at one of the outside tables shortly after opening time, which is 5pm. I was pretty hungry, as was my companion. So we were, you could say, somewhat blinded by our own eagerness to begin our meal. Blinded to the overall lack of cleanliness, that is. But soon we began to notice: water glasses had little white floating bits. My companions glass had a bit of pink stuff adhered to the inside. A chunklet of raw fish? The server was quick to replace his glass with a disposable plastic cup of fresh florida water. I could mention that another distraction was the noise level: the patio has a small collection of fans- one of which was just above our table. At one point there was a sort of mini-power failure to the patio, causing the fans and the lights to turn off. There was an audible sigh from a few of the other tables, "Ohhh-- it's so Quiet now!" Only for the fans to start up a few minutes later. Bits of flotsam and jetsam peppered the tabletop and chairs. This seemed to be remnants of the previous night's diners, cracking and shredding into their Alaskan snow crab legs and other previously frozen shellfish. I guess that the management hasn't quite learned to wipe their tables down before the next day's service begins. But this is not just a "peel and eat" establishment. As the name suggests, Sliders is known for their raw oysters. But this is probably the LAST place I'd consider eating a raw oyster.( And a note: one should not eat raw oysters during the summer months, anyway) The service was all right. But the food was not good- a bowl of gumbo seemed oddly seasoned, like the cook was too generous with the ground thyme. The yellow rice and black beans were under/unseasoned. And the bathrooms here are outside, in some sort of bathroom trailer. I decided against using one. I know, this review might seem...overly bad. But, really, think twice about eating here. Take a walk-through the outside eating area before sitting down. And maybe walk on by to one of the other restaurants nearby. good luck. p.s. They ONLY serve beer and wine. NO FULL BAR.

Went here and was not sure what to expect. It was a good experience with decent seafood. Nothing jumped out as a restaurant I have to try again, but if someone was interested, I would go back. I do need to give credit in the value column. Both entrees were around 15 bucks. Not bad. Had the scallops and was pleasantly surprised by the sauce they came in. They were also lightly breaded, which was nice. Also included was a decent vegetable side, including corn, pea pods, and a couple other veggies that I can not recall at the moment. My wife had the trigger fish. I had never heard of trigger fish, but it was a nice, light white fish with a tomato based sauce. I thought the sauce was a bit bland. She disagreed and enjoyed it. We did not try any deserts.

I couldn't wait to visit this venerable Beach Eatery. Sadly the service is unforgivably poor. It was moderately busy and I sat down to begin the meal. The server came over to drop off some water and said she would be right back. 15 minutes later she finally came back and I gave her my appetizer and dinner order. Another 20 minutes went by and I got the lukewarm appetizer. Fifteen minutes after that I had to stop the server to ask her about my meal - Oh - I'm sure it is coming. She didn't stop once or even glance at me as she went by for another 15 minutes. After FORTY minutes I went to the bar and told the manager there I just wanted to pay my bill - for my appetizer and leave. I told how disappointed I was with the service and how poor my dining experience had been. About 10 minutes later they had my check and I paid it. Just then they brought out my entree... I had to chuckle - I really wasn't interested in it - even thought they weren't going to charge me.

Very good seafood - we had the oysters (of course) and the curried seafood, which was a diving concoction of mango salsa, shrimp and scallops over curried rice. Scrumptious! I would have given this place one more star if not for the fact that this restaurant has no ambience whatsoever and the customer service leaves much to be desired. Our waitress spilled wine on our table and instead of mopping it up herself, handed me a towel and said "here you go, hon" !!! This would have been unforgivable if it weren't for that divine mango salsa.

I'll be the first to admit that I am not one to know my seafood. My thought on most seafood is if you can dip it in butter or soy sauce than I'll eat it and enjoy it. That being said raw oysters on the half shell when used in conjunction with the sauce they provide you with and a splash of Tabasco made them fantastic. My entree was a mixed grill of jerk shrimp on a skewer, 1/2 portion of jerk mahi-mahi along with a lobster tail also seasoned in the same fashion. Portions seemed small but not frequenting a lot of seafood joints this could be a normal portion. I enjoyed the meal, considered going back and would have too but simply ran out of time. Trays of un-shucked oysters were flying out the door and that made me feel like this would be a great place to hang out with a bunch of friends drinking and shucking the night away all the while enjoying the night air.

The flagship of our local fleet. Sliders has been a family and friend favorite since founders David & Val Pickett and Sam and Vera Miller started bringing quality seafood to our town nearly 30 years ago. If you're lucky you might get a "Triple Pickett" - caught by Bobby Lee, cut by David and cooked by Estin. My Cubera Snapper the other night was a Triple and was, honestly, one of the best pieces of fish I have ever eaten. Butternut Grouper is a bit of a signature dish for them and a good place to start if you are new to the area and cuisine - can't go wrong with that one. The Picketts keep it simple - reasonable prices, no rush to turn the table, funky decor. Nothing here is trying to impress you. They let the food do that.

Nice but not great food but amazing prices. we had the oysters on the 1/2 shell - $8 for a dozen. The parmesan crusted trigger at $13 was good, not great. The service was top notch. Sat outside at the picnic tables.

When I travel to new spots, I often want to eat where the locals dine or at least, at a place that serves authentic, regional cuisine. I get fancy, high-end cuisine where I live and with my profession so going the route is not a regular want for me when traveling. So after a few questions answered by the hostess on the phone, I decided on this place last night. Steamed clams? Yes. Cost? $9 for a dozen. Steamed and raw oysters? Yes. Within walking distance from One Ocean Resort? Yes. Perfect for an easy night out after a long day in the sun. Even though the steamed clams were 86d and I had to shuck my own Steamed oysters (my fault, should've asked or practiced more and really, should've gone raw), it was a good meal. Thought the bowl of Gumbo had great flavor and the right proportion of ingredients with the exception of not enough rice- could've used a scoop more for better ratio of liquid to rice. Peel n eat shrimp- couldn't get enough of them. Served with real butter (nice!). I'm always weary about ordering scallops at restaurants but took my server's suggestion and thought they were cooked well with some zip from the wasabi cream. Didn't need the fruit salsa with it, just pushed it off to the side. In closing- solid meal, reasonably priced, fun, beachy atmosphere that doesn't hit the corny wall.

This is the best local seafood place at the beach. All the food is so fresh and healthy, nothing is fried. Although the daily specials are always worth trying, the fish and shrimp tacos are the best. If you like spicy you should get them blackened! This place is definitely a must go-to if you enjoy seafood!

One of my favorite places to eat in Jacksonville. After living here for four years and going there quite a bit, I think as it goes with the food, I've only had one bad experience and it was just because it was kind of bland that night. For the price and how good the food is, I think it's a great value. Service has always been pretty good here. The only downfall is that they don't have full bar service, so you'll have to stick with beer or wine. The other great thing is they switch up the menu pretty frequently and prepare fish in different ways and it's always good.

Definite beach resort feel restaurant. Our trip here was the highlite of our vacation week. Casual atmosphere with top notch selection, quality and service. Started out with oysters and seafood spinach dip, both great starters. Entrees for the family included Filet.Mahi, Crabcakes, Seafood Chowder and steamed shrimp. Reasonable prices, outstanding quality and service. Fun vacation spot!

my sister recommended sliders to me. she's been living at the beaches for much longer than me, so she obviously tends to know amazing places to eat. i went in on a thursday & i was pretty happy with the menu. i saw crab cakes & knew that's where i needed to be. 16 dollars and a long wait later, i noticed the happy hour menu which was full of oysters and crab legs. i was pretty bummed that our waitress failed to mention this detail to us. though she was a doll. the caesar salad was delicious, extra garlicky which i have no qualms with. the crab cakes had minimal breading and delicious aioli. i will definitely be returned to muurder their happy hour specials reallly soon.

i didn't like the fact that i had to open my own stemmed oysters, especially when i'm not that experience on opening them. the oyster were also not that big either so thats why they are so cheap. my husbands ordered the crab cakes for his entree, and that was delis'' and i got the stuffed shrimp um... that was ok ...it was split in half and had stuffing laying on top of it and some white sauce dressing. the service was ok too....

The first time my fiance and I went here, we weren't overly impressed with the food. The atmosphere was festive and the outdoor seating a nice option. There was a long wait so we sat at the bar which was fine except that the bar area is small and it's the same spot where people order drinks so you're constantly having to get out of the way. We shared the mixed grill and thought this was mediocre and so would've given it 3 stars. This was a few months ago. Went there this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Again there was a wait but we didn't mind b/c the weather was nice. This time we got a table next to a group of people celebrating a birthday. We got 2 dozen raw oysters and they were awesome! So fresh. We then shared a bowl of the gumbo - again very tasty. For our entree, we shared the flounder with grits and that was tasty too. All the food was really fresh and yummy. The only downside is that this place is really noisy.

This place is very chill and casual. Picnic Tables abound. The oysters are yummy and the fish tacos are tasty. It's a fun place with a group of friends however be prepared to wait on the weekends! They have good happy hour specials on appetizers. Also no surprise but it is very hard to find any parking--try the bank parking lots if it is after hours!

Oysters were great here Friday night! Too bad we did get a little bit up by the mosquitos because we ate outside. Also, they don't have a full bar - just beer and wine.

you're probably wondering why i gave it only 2 stars. well, read the last part and you'll see why. I'll start with the good. the first 1/2 of my meal had great service. the waitress was attentive and quick. the dessert also tasted good. i'm trying to think of a third good thing to say, but can't think of anything. now, the bad. the second 1/2 of my meal had horrible service. as the restaurant started getting more crowded, the service was horrible. i had to wait 15 minutes to pay my bill. on a $20.22 meal, i only tipped 78 cents. and that was only because i didn't have any change to tip a quarter. the food - even more bad. i ordered one of their famous dishes, the butternut grouper. it was dry. and it wasn't because of the pecan crust on top, which is supposed to be dry. the fish itself that was flaky and dry. so, it wasn't very good. the dish came with vegetables, which were so-so. and their "yellow rice," which was cold and also very dry. the best part of the meal was the mango salsa. the fruit was fresh and it tasted great. dessert - had the ice cream sandwich, which was two macadamia nut cookies with vanilla ice cream in between. it tasted great, except for the piece of plastic wrapper that was left in the ice cream. seems that they have a freezer full of these ice cream sandwiches and take them out when someone orders it. then, they cut it into quarters....with the plastic wrapper. then, they take off the wrapper. well, so much for proper food preparation. if you can call taking something out of the freezer and quartering it in the wrapper food service. in the restaurant's defense, i did see someone having oysters and he seemed to really enjoy them. so, i won't be going back, but if you decide to try this restaurant, maybe you should order the oysters. ambience - place looks like a college bar or a beach bar, which isn't surprising because it is at the beach. it is casual dining. the reason why this one gets a two rating is because a restaurant has to be really, really horrible for me to give it a rating of one. this restaurant doesn't deserve a one rating, but it certainly deserves a measly two rating. i will never go back to this restaurant unless i get caught in jacksonville in a hurricane and it is the only restaurant serving food.

I'll agree with some reviews about service at Sliders. It's a beach staple and one that lives up to the hype. If your looking for a beachside place to get great raw oysters and cold beer then look no further. Sliders at JAX beach, little sister to the original in Amelia Island, is one of the few places that I'll go to get raw oysters. Like any place that serves raw seafood, you have to be careful. I've been sick so many times from eating raw seafood that you think I would have learned my lesson; sadly this is not the case. Sliders is one place however that I never have fear of getting sick. This may have more to do with my incredibly strong immune system I have after living 3 years in a frat house then the cleaning habits of sliders. The fact remains, one of the few places that I feel good getting raw oysters. The rest of sliders food is forgettable, but if you can hit their happy hour, then you can feast on oysters on the half shell, for half price of the normal fare. Make sure to eat outside in a tee-shirt and flops. Also expect to get oyster juice on yourself, its glorious. Sliders gets 3 stars for having the only oysters that are safe every time, or every time I've eaten there. Sit out on a bench and have a cold XX and a plate of those raw nastys. Service leaves something to be desired, but if your going to sliders expecting the Ritz-Carlton then you're fooling only yourself.

This is on my regular slate of must-stops when visiting family in Jax Beaches. It's a good place to get oysters, a pitcher, and some other tasty appetizers, like the fish dip.
